This theme has been on my heart for the last few days. In the coming days I will be more deeply exploring the ideas of O.T. prophet as opposed to N.T. prophet (if indeed there is such dichotomy?), the gift as distinguished from the office and the necessary character formation to function properly in either of the two. In this section of the blog I will first examine the idea that a N.T. prophet is not the same as an O.T. prophet. What I mean by that is the idea that the stipulations from the Law and Prophets no longer apply to the New Covenant prophet and wether or not this is a proper view. Until I can return to tackle this subject in detail, read this if you would like as I will be drawing a good deal from this material as well as Gerhard von Rad’s “Old Testament Theology”, particularly his treatment of the prophets. You can also look here for a quicker, easier read on the same subject. I know that reading for too long off of a computer screen can kill the eyeballs, so this may be better.
This, I promise, will be very stimulating to our spirits to explore and will no doubt sharpen our swords.
In His Holy name,

Amen from Redding CA……I am so tired of hearing that we are all just part of a huge “God Party”….and everything is so “wonderful” when almost no one is preaching true repentance… the gospel is good so long as it deals with our real problem….sin not psycho/social “giants”!

in the whole pre-discussion of the topic i think Wayne Grudem is very helpful, i forget the name of his book, but it’s an issue he’s tackled in depth as well and i appreciate what he has to say from what i’ve read. very grounded…
