The Letter Kills!

Ah yes, the infamous “don’t check out what I believe with the bible” verse, and as usual, quoted horribly out of context. Are we really to believe that the Bible kills? Do the written words of God Almighty actually kill us or quench the Life or activity of The Spirit? I ask this question because of an encounter with a certain young man who actually quoted this verse, thinking it to be a valid defense for men teaching things not in the bible. The basic essence of this guys thought, I gather, is that using the bible (I used the N.T.!) to show the error of the prophetic movement’s teachings is actually killing the life of God that would otherwise bless me if I would just open myself to the ’spirit’ of this movement’s teachings. This is most unfortunate.
