No, it’ll be much more. He is an incredibly substantial speaker. I’ve been taking notes and am going to by CD’s of his sermons here.
All I can say so far is that this man leaves no wiggle room for my flesh….and this stinkin’ conference is supposed to be for kids!!! He’s nailing them too, but man….
…well, wether he likes it or not, he’s definitely a prophetic man, a spokesman for the Lord. I don’t know what else you can more accurately call him.
Once I get home I’ll be working during the week. Depending on how busy this upcoming work week is will determine wether or not I write on it this week or on Saturday.
‘Til then, God’s richest blessings be upon you all.

i know i was just kidding.
I read and listened to his “shocking” sermon to the kids. No wiggle room is right.
I too believe He is sent by the Lord, this is the kind of prophet i like to listen to.

Have you guys noticed that so much of the true prophecy does come from sermons like Paul Washer and others who have no fear about confronting the church with even the more uncomfortable parts of God’s truth? They are often so accurate in their assessments of what’s really going on, we look back upon it and see it as prophetic words, even though prophesying wasn’t the preacher’s original intention!
These modern day so-called prophets should take lessons from guys like Paul. Lots of folks don’t like hearing such frankness, because it is so convicting. However, I believe it’s a necessary breath of fresh air which is needed to revive a church that has grown fat and sleepy by concentrating more on receiving blessings than in being one.

M.Baker,
I just typed out similar sentiments to my pastor a moment ago. I was inwardly marveling at how Reformed folks end up being way more Spirit led than those in who believe themselves to be Pentecostal/Charismatic. This is a man with much more true prophetic stature under his pinky nail trapped in the dirt under it than the constituents of the modern prophetic movement. To this day I’ve not heard anything substantially prophetic from this movement or Elijah List, it’s all a bunch of people speaking their wishes and lusts for power rather than the actual heartbeat of God to this nation.
This is what I wrote to my pastor:
“Anyway, I love these Calvinist prophets. It seems that with the increase of a wierd affection for alleged propheticness these days that God had to go outside “the camp” (wink wink) to raise up real voices speaking real prophetic words in the order of Jeremiah and many like him.”
It’s odd how Reformed folks don’t believe that this prophetic office still remains as it was at the beginning, yet they themselves (lately) are the greatest examples that it indeed continues; much moreso than the vast majority of those in “my camp”.
I’ll be writting on this most likely tomorrow, posting what notes I took from his 4 sermons. I’m going to purchase the CD’s as well. If DVD’s are available, then I’ll go with those instead. There is something about seeing the veins in his neck pop out and the skin flushing red with such holy intensity as he rebukes a worthless Christianity and those who continue to help prop it up.
Be safe tonight.
I’ll be in bed by 9.

Mark, Jr.
That’s got be a Holy Spirit thing, us both having the same message at the same time. Love howHe does that. I think it’s funny too that God is using some of the most unlikely and conservative folks folks to usurp these radical prophetic pretenders to the throne.
But then that’s His way, to make the wise things of the world seem foolish, and the foolish things wise. Without that divine boundary, we’d probably all be operating out of a mistaken sense of personal power. In fact we all probably already do in some respect or another, and don’t even realize it. That’s why I thank God for the Paul Washer’s of the world who do see where we’re all going wrong, and tell us how and why we need to repent.
Happy New Year to you and yours. May it be a blessed year ahead for you, and for all who post here.

I just went to Paul Washer’s website (HeartCrymissionary.com) and read about his ministry. I was blown away by his mission statements and doctrinal standings. Although I haven’t listen to him much, I deeply admire his passion for missions and his passion for biblical preaching.
Here is there mission statement:
“The great end of any missionary society or fellowship should not be the sending forth of missionaries, but the sending forth of God’s truth through missionaries. It is unwise and even perilous to make missions or evangelism a rallying point for believers or congregations of diverse or undefined doctrinal viewpoints. Truth and the desire to make it known among the nations must be the uniting force.”
“Since missions is primarily a task of communicating God’s truth to the nations, biblical doctrine is primary. Any missionary society or agency that does not concern itself with biblical doctrine or generalizes its doctrinal statement in order to maintain fellowship with the greatest number of professing Christians (i.e., supporters) has lost its very purpose and possibly its very soul.”
I thought this was so cool because coming from a missionary school, I see so many students go into missions with no passion or doctrinal understanding. It is sad because people are not being changed because we are more worried about making friends with the world.

Mark Jr. !! I thought that was you
I know you from the SignofJonah…I’m a Reformed Charismatic so I also read TimChallies. I noticed your comment about someone getting sick in the stall next to you… I thought, “Is that the Mark Jr. from iseeitdifferently? ” So I went to your site to find out! God bless you and your family
You don’t know me, but I’m a sister in Christ and a fellow Charismatic…I hope later to ask you some questions
As a Reformed Charismatic, I often feel caught in the middle…I love my brothers and sisters on both sides…(Don’t worry, I’m not going to whine “Why can’t we all just get along”) I also visit Pyromaniacs…I read the comments when they discuss the Charismata and I try to stay out of it…Adrian Warnock does a pretty good job
Anyway, I hope you don’t mind, I feel like I know you a little bit since I’ve been reading the SignofJonah for a few years (I just recognized your sense of humor in the Challies post!
God Bless You,
Jennifer

But seriously, feel free to ask anything. If you want (let me know here) I can email you for questions on other stuff.
Have a happy new years eve, be careful….stay at home if you can. I already hear gunshots here in Charlotte. Been hearing ‘em for about 2 hours.
Hope the bullets don’t land in my house…

(yes I really do smile alot!!) The part in parenthesis where you state (let me know here) I’m assuming it was a link but I don’t see it. Please, if you don’t mind, could you give it again? Thanks!! I do have alot of questions and comments to bounce off of you!! My husband and I are looking forward to hearing from you! God Bless, Jennifer
Thanks for your quick response

Just a quick P.S.
I recognized you also from thesignofJonah!
I want to say hi to MBaker too
Mark Jr.
Just a little snippet of an idea…With the Charismatic, there are levels of faith given, even a gift of faith. I was reading a while back a discussion over at the signofjonah, where some were wanting to be convinced of certain charismata that were still in use e.g. the gift of Prophecy and Tongues. My understanding is, maybe certain believers are given a higher level of faith to believe and grasp more of certain truths that are spiritually discerned. I know when they discuss it over at Pyromanics, I don’t really bother, since these things are given to the Body. I have gifts they don’t have, they have gifts I don’t have. One complaint against the Charismatic was “Its all about the haves and have nots!” Well, of course it is, if I knew it all I wouldn’t need the body and vice versa. One is a hand, another a foot, another an ear or an eye. Anyway, this is just one of my thoughts
iseeitdifferently // January 1, 2008 at 7:30 pm |
Oh, no, that wasn’t a link; I just wanted you to tell me wether or not it was cool to email dialogue with you. I didn’t want to just initiate it, but leave it open to be “invited”. Just an attempt at some decorum and propriety, especially since you call youself a “Mrs.”. That means there is a “Mr.” who I will show proper honor and respect to and even here and now ask him if it’s okay for his wife to speak with another man about issues of the faith. If he’s not okay, then I’m not….so ask the Mr.
And as far as me and my wife go, she reads my emails before I do more than half the time so there is nothing unaccountable on my end.
I don’t believe in “levels of faith” as much as I believe in one’s closeness to God. Faith increases as a by-product of relation to God and as a result we may do things in greater proportion to our faith. Kinda nit picky perhaps, but sometimes I like to clarify stuff like that because I really think that if we see it as a relational issue rather than “the next level”, we can steer clear of a works mentality and just focus on Jesus and loving Him more and just living a life that facilitates greater measures of grace. Not striving, just being. It should be like a stream flowing into a river into the sea into the ocean. No real beginning or end, just all the waters touching and mingling.
Wow…kinda waxed poetic there for a second.
Anyhow, I’m nit picky and that’s why I call this place “Hand Me A Scalpel”. Some stuff is major surgery, some is just cosmetic I guess…
Thanks for hanging around and for your thoughts.

Mark Jr.
Thanks for the respect
I feel the same way, that is why I asked Jason before I even emailed! (Yes I am way ahead of the game
) Yes, I do want to correspond via email. I don’t know if you will just give us a link, (that way we don’t bug other posters) or if you need me to give our email address. Please let me know
I agree whole heartedly with what you have said, (I need to be careful with semantics because there are buzz words in the Charismatic) And we do very much appreciate the fact that you are nit picky. We need doctors within the kingdom of God. And please, say Hi to your lovely wife and God bless her on her pregnancy
(I got the info from the Challies post you submitted!) Thanks again! The Darrs

wow Mark Jr.,
I just read the above post to my husband that you wrote to Mrs. Darr. It never occurred to me that he might feel uncomfortable about another man teaching me. Please forgive my ignorance and apologize for me to your lovely wife as I think perhaps I have at times abused the email priviledge.
iseeitdifferently // January 2, 2008 at 1:20 am |
Eh, it’s all good.
We live and learn and stuff…I hadn’t given enough thought to it myself, so there’s no finger pointing here.
But like I said, all is open in my house so no harm done here.
Hope your husband accepts my apologies as well for my own insensitivity previously.
Feel free to continue writting…
…goin’ nye nye (sorry, I have a baby…the talk bleeds into my normal speech…)

“Hope your husband accepts my apologies as well for my own insensitivity previously.”
He’s on his way down to Charlotte with a twelve gage shot gun right now as I write this.
Ha ha. No, he says he doesn’t mind. I often share what has been discussed with him. He actually is very glad cause he shares alot of your sentiments but was never encouraged to question anything in the churches he grew up in. We are both very thankful for yor incite and wisdom.

And actually, my apologies for my warped humor. Joking about shooting someone is not funny at all especially these days.

–and this stinkin’ conference is supposed to be for kids!!! He’s nailing them too, but man….–
I listened to the hour-long one he did at a youth conference. The gospel is the same for a child as it is for an adult. (I have a problem with a lot of children’s Bibles– especially with the death of Christ and Revelation is practically not there because it could be ’scary’ Well no kidding– its scary on purpose!…)
Bless God there are people out there like him! I agree– they have no intentions of being prophetic and God speaks right thru them when they are unwaivering and thinking only of the eternal soul of their fellow man when speaking the gospel.
Look at the contrast between Paul and the people on the Elijah List. Paul says more in one sentence than they have in all the years they’ve been online! And they intend to be prophetic. Its such a ‘glamorous’ life for them. Everyone likes them because they have so-called ‘inside access’ to God that is untappable by the common man.
Remember Ezekiel and Elijah– PEOPLE DIDNT LIKE THEM! The very prophet they namesake themselves with and long to be like, was horribly unpopular!
Anyway, Im sure Paul doesnt get a lot of call-backs, but wow I want to see him if he ever comes up my way. And I’ll take my kids!
BereanOnTheWall // January 22, 2008 at 8:06 pm |
Also, I want to mention that folks like Paul and others on the ‘grey’ side of the fence– have you ever notice that they are completely “touchable”? On the end of the 1 hour long preaching he did with that youth group that was just astounding, he said he’d stay there until the last one was gone if they wanted to pray one on one (It was a pretty big auditorium too, from what I could see). That is the heart of a real prophet. Salvation is on his mind– not jewels and things of this world. He’s truly an example of what it is like to lay up treasure in heaven where moth and rust do not corrupt.
I havent spoken to Paul, but I have been able to talk to folks like Jackie Alnor, Kevin Reeves and others that understand the war is so much more than an experience.
I saw over on http://thegreycoats.wordpress.com that Ernie Gruen replied to a very important question! How cool is that?!
You wont typically find that with the Elitest List type people, thats for sure!

Whoa.
I’m a little disquieted inwardly. I almost think that perhaps this is unhealthy. It’s like a gimmic or something. Maybe not…but I’m chaffed inwardly by it somehow.
I just hope this doesn’t turn him into the next generations’ Marjoe Gortner.
